October General Conference 2014

This has been the most successful General Conference The Clark Family has ever had. Ever. It's a struggle getting the kids to sit thru it, even with the activities I plan for them and the many coloring pages of the prophet, scriptures, etc...they'll sit for a good 5 minutes max! Then it's fighting, jumping on the couch, pulling toys out, and lots of loud noises. But today I saw my kids grow.  They were so excited to work on the GC Packet from primary and eat the yummy goodies I prepared for them. And they really sat thru the whole first session working on their packets!!
One activity was assigning a word to different treats. When someone in conference says that word, they get to eat the treat that goes with that word. For example, I used the words faith, family and Christ. So if the word "family" was said, they got to eat an animal cracker. If the word "faith" or "Christ" was said, they got to eat a gold fish (we have lots of goldfish and it's one of their faves:). They had so much fun and they really sat and listened for those words! (An awesome way to get the kids to listen to the talks!) Even if it was just so they could eat a snack, they still sat and listened! I'll take that over fighting or jumping on the couch any day!  I have learned through this conference experience that all the stress and frustration of trying to get the kids to know who our prophet is or his counselors or even the 12 apostles haha..or to sit thru scripture time or fhe, is unnecessary. Having  faith (eat a goldfish;) and being obedient to the commandments of our leaders has strengthened my testimony even more that if we do what is commanded of us, The Lord will provide. And today I saw that promise being fulfilled. I saw my kids get soooo excited when our prophet spoke. They love him and know who he is. They love our Savior Jesus Christ and they know who He is. I am grateful for this experience that I had. Tho small, thas made a great impact in my life. I love our prophet. I love this gospel.
